Russell leads an immensely talented and diverse creative department covering film, technology, UX, social and design. Using data as a foundation and technology as a canvas, he aims to help brands connect with people in more meaningful ways and recent wins at One Show, New York Festivals, Epica and Eurobest are testament to the cause.
Previously Creative Director at Havas London. Highlights include the 2010 election campaign, creating and writing the award-winning short films for Chivas Regal and launching The Joke Appeal for the UK's leading children's cancer charity Clic Sargent to win the agency’s first Webby.
Russell’s passion for moving image was nurtured at Channel 4 and Princess Productions, writing on television shows including Office Monkey and the award-winning Sunday Night Project.
He has since written for a number of publications including Shots, Campaign and Esquire Magazine and is an optioned writer, with a number of projects in development with Freemantle Media.
Shortly after joining Cheil, Russell set up Film Labs, a one of a kind placement scheme helping young directors from all backgrounds break into the industry. He also acts as a mentor and speaker for The Dots and The School Of Communication Arts, London
